Diez Vistas & Buntzen Lake, Port Moody, BC

DSC02727

Distance from Vancouver: 1h
6-7hrs, 15km loop
Elevation gain: 460m

I’ve been wanting to do this hike for a few years now, but never got to it before. We wanted to have a nice hike without too much snow (in January!) so this was the perfect fit!

This is a long hike, mainly under cover in the trees, with a few nice view points and 2 nice beaches (North and South Buntzen). We hit the main view point after about 2hrs of hiking, and the rest of the hike is mainly in the forest. To be honest I was a bit disappointed as I thought there was more view points while on the ridge – maybe we just didn’t see them or trees have grown since the trail was made, but we had maybe 3-4 nice view points easily accessible from the main trail.

Even though this was a very sunny day we didn’t get much sun, but the beach time was lovely and it was nice be get some fresh air! Make sure you respect the closure time of the gate for the parking lot, especially in the winter time when the sun set is earlier.

Enjoy!
