Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
We attempted to do an overnight trip to Elfin Lakes, but we had to turn around mid-way as one of us got injured. We stopped for snack and a nice fire in the Red Heather Hut, which got really packed around noon.
We got at the trailhead around 9am and it was already half full. Early start is mandatory if you want a spot to sleep in the Elfin Lakes Shelter on the week-end! The snow was very deep as there was about a meter of fresh snowfall that week. I think there has been a bit more since (this was December 18-19th).
I will attempt to go again in a few weeks, and hopefully then can update a full trip report about the trail!
Enjoy!
